Here are some songs, most from some of my favorite movies, that hold a lot of emotional significance for me. If you’re down, perhaps listening to one might help!

As for getting music, there are options available

  • Spotify
    • The free version is enough for me
    • When I want to study, I listen to playlists for focusing
  • Datpiff.com
    • This is a site that offers hip-hop and rap music to download
    • It’s where I get most of my music
  • Purchasing music
    • Many don’t have the means to do so

Individual songs:

  • The Last Waltz
    • by Cho-Yung-Wuk
    • This is from the 2003 movie Oldboy
    • It has a somewhat dated instrumental, but really touches my heart, somehow
  • Look Who is Talking
    • by Cho-Yung-Wuk
    • This song has a part that’s really engaging
    • It doesn’t bring up drama and deep-set emotional feelings in the same manner as above – it’s more motivating and strong
  • How Far We’ve Come
    • by Matchbox Twenty
    • This song I could apply to, frankly, how far I’ve come since even a little while ago!
  • Duel of the Fates
    • by John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra
    • I don’t think I’m alone in stating that Star Wars Episode I has merit to it that’s almost entirely due to Darth Maul
    • This song is that which plays in the aforementioned movie during an important lightsaber fight!
  • Solomon
    • by Hans Zimmer
    • This song is out of 12 years a Slave
    • It’s soft but it really drives into my heart
  • Frank and Jesse James
    • by Warren Zevon
    • Zevon is one of the lesser-known rock musicians
    • I have memories listening to this song with family as a kid
    • It’s very motivating
    • One feels a bit heroic and righteous, yet in a humble manner, while listening to this song
  • Can’t Tell Me Nothing
    • by Kanye West
    • Ah, the old-school Kanye West!
    • I still think his older songs, such as this one, are his best ones
    • That stated, he certainly doesn’t release bad songs these days
  • Lone Digger
    • by Caravan Palace
